Gender and Sexual Minorities (LGBTQIA) Studies

This guide provides tips and resources for locating books, films, journal articles, news sources, and websites for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, and asexual, and other gender and sexual minorities studies.
Alice is responsible for selecting books, journals and electronic resources; providing in-depth research assistance and library instruction; and acting as the advocate within the Library for the area of Gender and Sexual Minorities Studies. While it's not a formal department or major, the Libraries believe that it is important to support students and scholars conducting research in this area. Alice also serves as the Libraries' liaison to the Rainbow Center. She is available to give in-class presentation on various topics in Gender and Sexual Minorities Studies, particularly transgender issues.
Alice Fairfield got her Bachelor's in Astronomy in 1993 from the University of Massachusetts and went on to do 2 years of graduate work at the University of Wyoming. She got her Master's in Library Science in 1998 from Texas Women's University. Prior to coming to UConn, she worked at AT&T Laboratories. Alice's background in Gender and Sexual Minorities is informed by her personal experience as a transgender woman and lesbian.
