Objectives

This guide will help you be able to :

  • Explore a topic using a wide variety of source types
  • Use background resources (encyclopedias, books, major subject specific Web collections, general interest databases, etc.) both online and in print to help you choose an interesting topic for research
  • Create effective keyword and subject searches using library databases for locating secondary sources on a topic
  • Refine your research topic using limits and other research strategies

RefWorks -- create an account and help yourself by organizing and storing in the Cloud all the bibliographic information about the books, articles, DVDs, and other sources you use in your academic and personal information areas. Most databases have an "Export" to RefWorks automated script.
